Insecurities of a Sunflower
Insecurities of a Sunflower Pt.1
2023
Artist Statement
This interactive installation showcases a sunflower in the centre of the piece while painted eyes look down on it. Written on the glass is the question "What Are Your Insecurities?"
The installation was left up for a week and over this duration the flower died and more people interacted with the piece by writing there own insecurities onto the glass.
The installation highlights societal expectations of beauty and that what is deemed perfect and beautiful -like a flower- is not always as aesthetically pleasing or lives up to expectations.

Artist Statement
This series of works showcase insecurities that many people may experience due to the misogynistic views of society. These paintings, while some represent empowerment, others showcase struggles of insecurities. The works also engage with the idea of the object and objectified. They are the vessels to display the beautiful, a rebuttal against societal expectations, and a showcase of the beauty in all bodies.
